Benefiting British Beer

The client: National brewery

The problem: Obsolete pump had failed

The solution:  Supply modified pumps to fit in with existing pipe work and significantly reduce water consumption

TCH-M Mechanical Seal Centrifugal Pump

A two-hundred year old brewery in the East of England called us one day as they had a pump go down and needed to be replaced urgently but the existing pump manufacturer was no longer operating. The brewery pipe work had been designed around these obsolete pumps and there wasn’t the time or the means to modify these so the team here at CDR worked alongside the team at the brewery and brought in modified pumps to fit in with the existing structure thereby negating the need for expensive pipe work modifications.

As the old pumps had been in such a long time, they did not meet ISO standards so they were replaced with TCHM mechanically sealed centrifugal pumps with a whole sealing system which brought the brewery inline with current safety standards.

The brewery was using a method known as ‘quench to drain’ to keep their pumps clean and were using 3-4 litres per minute of towns water so an environmentally friendly water management system was introduced.  The new system connects directly to the brewery’s water supply and has significantly reduced the brewery’s water consumption by re-circulating and cleaning the water used.

Breweries across the world are striving to reduce their water footprint so if you would like to find out how then please call us on 01933 674777 or email sales@cdr.sktesting.co.uk
