A brace of UTS-B Pumps

“A brace of UTS-B pumps” leave the works today for a thermal oil application running up to 280’C.

The UTS-B has long been a true workhorse and these 2 pumps are part of a larger project updating an existing plant that is being modernised to increase production. The plant has already benefited from the UTS-B family of pumps in their current manufacturing process.

The pumps are complete with 2 steam jackets – the first on the pump casing which the photo depicts, and also there is an internal jacket around the bearings as solidification of the product could occur if heating methods fail on site.
The jackets allow the heat into the heart of the pump to maximise reliability.  The site first installed mag-drive pumps onto the main processes more than 10 years ago, having traditionally used double mechanical seal arrangements to that point.
The team at CDR Pumps supported and worked with the process team to ensure ‘best practice’ was utilised and sufficient protection devices were in place to ensure long, trouble-free pumping on-site.

“It took some convincing for the site to embrace new technology moving over to mag drive pumps, but with the dedication and hard work by the on-site engineering team, we worked ‘hand-in-hand’ to make sure the pumps were a truly reliable upgrade. It’s fantastic to see more pumps being installed due to the successes of cleaner, more reliable pumping that the customer has achieved and enjoyed” says Ashley Fenn, Managing Director of CDR Pumps UK Ltd.

The units were manufactured on a very tight deadline, 12 working weeks with steam jackets! and are in fact being delivered 2 weeks early, which makes us even more proud of the entire CDR Pumps (UK) Ltd and CDR Pompe manufacturing facility.
