When two products mix in the pump and create Hydrochloric Acid what do you do to ensure minimum disruption to your specialist chemical production plant?

A major client develop and manucfature speciality chemicals and sustainable technologies company who focus on improving air quality and reducing emissions and the conservation of natural resources. In one of their multi-national sites, the client has a series of pumps which drawn down chlorine gas during the process and upon entering the pump, mixes with the service liquid to create Hydrochloric Acid.

Due to the highly corrosive nature of Hydrochloric Acid, the manufacturing facility go through a high number of pumps over the course of a year.  Working in conjunction with the company, the team at CDR Pumps extensively researched alternative options to reduce the increased wear and tear on the pumps but the only available options were not economically or commercially viable for the company. As a result, all those involved devised a robust supply chain process to ensure that the manufacturing facility does not experience pump failure or down time and that pumps are replaced systematically and to short deadlines – without a robust and consistent supply system in place there whole process would be shut down.

There are times when the right solution isn’t necessarily the right answer to your problem, we worked extensively with this customer to make sure their needs were met whilst still maintaining the values of the company as a whole.
