Pump Training Course
Fundamentals of Pumping
Centrifugal pumps are widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, and industrial settings, as they are reliable, efficient, and cost-effective. However, those working with the pumps benefit from training to be able to evaluate, diagnose, and maintain so as to prevent future problems.
One way to ensure a centrifugal pump is operating correctly is to train personnel on its operations reducing Mean Time Between Maintenance (MTBM) by helping to avoid costly breakdowns.
CDR Pumps provides ‘reliability focussed’ centrifugal pump training. This basic pump training course gives insight into pump identification, pump performance and troubleshooting. Aimed at project and maintenance engineers and purchasing professionals who operate centrifugal pumps and are involved with pump installation, pump maintenance, problem-solving, reliability or plant improvements. One of the key issues we look at is the energy efficiency of your pumps and how to identify how we can save plants often substantial energy usage (and bottom-line profit).
The ‘hands-on’ practical approach is designed to give an opportunity for improving plant reliability. The course will cover the following key topics:
The Fundamentals of Centrifugal Pumps Training Course
The first part of the course will help you gain an understanding of how centrifugal pumps operate, analyse the performance curve of a centrifugal pump and understand how pumps work to provide a complete picture of how pumping systems affect rotating equipment. We also learn about the ‘system’ curve, the effects of system changes, operational intervention, and the consequences on energy usage on pump reliability and performance characteristics.
The Design of Centrifugal Pumps
This part of the course looks at the key design features of centrifugal pumps. We identify the important components and cover the principles of reliability and efficiency. The module also includes a pump strip-down demonstration followed by delegates getting ‘hands-on’ experience by stripping down and rebuilding a pump.
Diagnosing and Solving Problems
This module looks at solving problems and troubleshooting. We look at the impact that vibration has on your pumps, how to recognise how much power they are using, duty variations and the impact of pump performance on your site/facility.
Pump Failure Analysis
The final module looks at why pumps may fail. By looking at modes of failure, the causes, the indicative signs of wear, we can often identify what has gone wrong and recognise how to remedy the problem, potentially eliminating a total failure, potential loss of containment, ceased production, or and plant downtime.
Providing adequate and thorough training to personnel working with centrifugal pumps can help reduce Mean Time Between Maintenance, ensures that engineers know the proper procedures and that they are able to detect any potential issues before they become major problems. Additionally, well-trained personnel can help ensure the pump is working at its full capacity and potentially extend its lifespan.
