History of CDR Pumps

C.D.R. Pompe e Motori origins are dated before WW II. Beginning in the early 40's, Ferdinando Abordi founded "ARI Pompe", which production was based on cast iron pumps designed for domestic, agricultural and industrial uses.
In the mid 60's the evolving market was requiring new and sophisticated products, and it's founder transformed the Company into a flexible structure, dedicated to special constructions and began to manufacture stainless steel and special alloy pumps. Later on the production of horizontal and vertical, single stage pumps in accordance with DIN 24256 standards for the chemical industry was also started.
In the early 70's, CDR decided to extend its production to pumps made from plastic materials. CDR understood that plastic materials needed different design rules and constructive principles which differs from the metal. This design had to be based on the selection of plastic material of construction, not on the use of the pumps. That's why the first plastic made pumps were an intricate combination of design and geometry.
Based on these concepts, a new production range was created allowing CDR to grow nationally and internationally, recognized as a specialty pump manufacturer. That process created a solid image that holds up to this day, satisfying even more demanding Customers.
In 1978 a major milestone in CDR history was laid into production with the first plastic and metallic magnetic driven pumps. the company changed into "S.r.l." in 1985 and few years later in 1992 became an "S.p.A." In 1998 C.D.R. opened its first UK based company, "C.D.R: Pumps (UK) Ltd." The ISO 9001 certification was achieved in 1999.
As of today, the technical development, constant research for innovative solutions and the high industrialization, are still the driving force in our Organization.
C.D.R. now offers a large variety of Thermoplastic and Stainless Steel pumps for the chemical, pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries where the mag-drive pumps represent over 80% of C.D.R's production with more than 2100 pumps sold in year 2000 and we are continuously improving our sales trend.
After many years of methodic and extensive coverage of the Italian market, C.D.R. spent the last few years focusing on the improvement of the foreign market and the existing dealers network with renewed enthusiasm. That allowed C.D.R. to achieve an unprecedent market introduction.
At the present time, the mag-drive pumps represent over 80% of C.D.R's production.
