CDR Pumps handle food grade Glycerine
Brenntag (UK) Ltd have recently installed a new facility to manage the batching and distribution of food grade Glycerine at their Lutterworth site.
Glycerine is fast becoming a core distribution product for Brenntag (UK) Ltd, and as part of their growing commitment to provide excellent customer service, have installed a new bulk storage tanks and filling machines to decant to smaller containers. For the correct handling and storage of the product, the temperature is controlled to 35°C by means of heating elements, and pipelines are fully trace heated and lagged.
The product is pumped by means of stainless steel magnetic drive pumps manufactured by CDR Pumps, which provide pumps without mechanical seals, which in turn eliminates the risk of contamination of the product.
Engineering Manager Malcolm Forrest says "We have used CDR Pumps extensively on site for a number of years, with the very first pump we purchased still in operation some 6 years later, having never received any maintenance during this time. We have worked very closely with CDR Pumps to Engineer out potential operating or application problems, so that we can benefit from extended mean time between failure (MTBF), and we have proved that we have achieved this goal."
"With the new Glycerine plant being commissioned, it was important that we can be assured of maximum MTBPM, on top of the assurance that contamination of this food grade product cannot occur."
